It was set. I had last Friday off as a comp day, so that I could go see the midnight opening of "The Dark Knight" without worrying about falling asleep during the workday. I was all psyched Thursday. It was my last work day for the week, and then later that night I would go see the movie that I'd been waiting on for a few years.
And then, I got one of the best text messages. "I need my keys" It was from freaking JOSH P.
He was one of my closest friends on this base, but had deployed to Iraq back in January, and I had no clue when he was supposed to get back. Well, turned out he was back in the states. As soon as I got off work, I met up with him, and when I told him I was seeing TDK, we both agreed that he should come along. We were very lucky to still snag some tickets that afternoon for the midnight show. So, we took off to see it, and MAN, what a movie! Heath Ledger gave true justice to that character, and it was obvious that he had fun with the role.
Well, here I am a week later, having seen the film three times, for a good reason. I'd originally gotten tickets for the 8:15 show on Friday, but then found out about the midnight show and had to secure that. And then, I saw it the third time because I'd already planned on seeing it with a particular friend.
Now, if anyone is interested, I've started and am almost done with a story concerning how the character snapped, based on Heath Ledger's interpretation of the character. I'll post a journal when it's up, because the name of the submission won't read anything obvious like "Joker Origin".
Anyway, I've spent way too long on the computer, so I'm going to head out.
Peace
